Germany has some great Autobahns (freeways) but at times they are hopelessly overloaded. I don't think this picture was taken at a particularly busy time. Traffic was moving at a fairly high speed. This section of the Autobahn is known for getting some heavy fog and at times as many as 200 vehicles get involved in one pile up.

Restday in Evora - in the rain.: Doing chores: Laundry, bike maintenance, banking, looking around.

From Evora to Moura. What a difference a day makes!!!: Rain, wind, almost ended up in jail, but still a great day.

From Moura, Portugal to Cortegana, Spain: One country down 16 (or so) to go

From Cortegana to Aracena: Cold and wet!

From Aracena to Bollullos de la Mitacion: Great riding again through most beautiful landscape..

From Bollullos de la Mitacion to Arcos de la Frontera: Can it get any better and more beautiful?

From Arcos de la Frontera to Vejer.: Andalucia showing its better side. What a great day.

From Vejer, Spain to Tanger, Morocco, Africa.: Where grandpa changes (loses?) his mind and decides to ride down the west coast of Africa instead.

From Tanger, Morocco to Tarifa, Spain. Back in Europe!: What an experience!.

Still in Tarifa waiting out the extremely high winds.: Just not safe to ride a bike at this time.

From Tarifa to Marbella.: A rough start turned into a wonderful day.

From Marbella to Malaga. Bad morning turned into a great day again.: Good followed bad - twice today!

From Lleida to La Seu d'Urgel - 10 k´s to Andorra.: Spain kept it´s best for last - the spectacular Pyrenees!!! WOW!!!!!

From La Seul d'Urgell, Spain - through Andorra and to Ax-les-Thermes, France.: France welcomes us with cold winds, some rain, bad pavement and a 2.20 Euro cup of tea.

From Ax-les-Thermes to Carcassonne on lovely quiet roads.: Southern France showed it's better side today.

From Carcassonne to Beziers.: Slow morning - better afternoon.

From Breziers to Lunel on just another great day!: Wonderful cycling except through the maze of Montpellier.

From Lunel to Pertuis.: Survived a long weekend in southern France.

From Pertuis to Moustiers Sainte-Marie.: Can cycle touring get any better?

From Moustiers Saint-Marie to Greolieres. The Grand Canyon.: YES, cycle touring did get even better than it was yesterday.

From Greotieres, France, through Monaco to San Remo, Italy.: From the majestic mountains back to the beautiful coast.

From San Remo to Loano.: What a beautiful little town!

From Loano to Acqui Termes, on probably the warmest day of the tour so far.: Where grandpa goes back into the mountains.

From Aqui Termes to Vercelli on another beautiful day.: Out of the mountains, through the hills and into the flatland of the Po River Valley.

From Vercelli to Varese - mostly through flat land and hitting a thunderstorm.

From Varese through a small part of Switzerland and to Civenna, Italy: What a beautiful world we live in.

From Civenna to Tirano: Another great day in a beautiful part of Italy close to the big mountains.

From Tirano to Edolo - Today was not the day to go anywhere in a hurry.: Just over one nice pass. Tough uphill and beautiful long downhill.

From Edolo to Cles.: Another day another pass.

From Cles to Ponte Gardena (Waidbruck): Getting close to the Dolomite mountains.

From Waidbrook to Wolkenstein. Easy day in the rain.: Hopefully a big day in the big mountains tomorrow.

From Wokenstein up the Groednerjoch pass and back.: Great ride up - cold and wet ride down.

From Wolkenstein to Segonzano - after going back to St. Christina for bike maintenance.: Great to do some real riding again despite some rain, hail and some awful tunnels.

From Segonzano to Torbole on a rainy and cool day.: Worked my way to the north east corner of Lago di Garda.

From Torbole to Lazise on beautiful Lago di Garda.: Short little ride along the lake shore.

Rest day on Lago di Garda.: Laundry, bike maintenance, computer 'stuff', visiting with Erwin and Gudrun, laughing, relaxing.

Rest day in Lazise.: Having a great and relaxing time, but also getting anxious to go again.

Transfer to Portogruaro by car - ride to Sempeter, Slovenija by Bruno.: Into another country on a beautiful day.

From Sempeter to Naklo, Slovenija (near Kranj): Sneaking up on the Austrian border and the big mountains

From Naklo, Slovenija to Bleiburg, Austria.: Over the big mountains into Austria on another great day for cycling.

From Bleiburg, Austria to Ljutomer, Slovenija.: Following the great Drau cycling route back into Slovenija.

From Ljutomer, Slovenija through Croatia, Hungary ending up in Urbersdorf, near Guessling, Austria.: Where grandpa went border hopping.

From Urbersdorf, Austria to Fertoszentmiklos, Hungary.: In (for the most part unsuccessful) search of cycling routes for part of the beautiful day.

From Fertoszentmiklos, Hungary to Bratislava, Slovakia.: More beautiful country more wonderful people.

From Bratislava, Slovakia to Mautern, Austria.: `Sailing´along the wonderful Danube cycling trail. (Donauradweg)

From Mautern to Rohrbach (just south of Linz) on another warm day.: Happy reunion with cousins I have not seen in a long time.

From Rohrbach to Altmuenster near Gmunden, Salzkammergut, Upper Austria: Following another great cycle trail, this time along the Traun river.

From Altmuenster to Kuchl, about 15 k south of Salzburg.: We are back into the mountains

From Kuchl, province Salzburg to Fieberbrunn, province Tirol, Austria: Yahoo, we are climbing again!!!!!

From Fieberbrunn to Kematen (just past Innsbruck).: Rainy morning, great afternoon. Wow, do I love cycling!!!!

From Kematen to Landeck - on a wet and cool day.: Riding with a group of Germans for most of the way, on some terrible trails.

From Landeck to Feldkirch: The weather in the mountains has not been kind to me.

From Feldkirch, Austria, through Liechtenstein and to Menzingen, near Zug, Switzerland.: A wonderful day to ride on Switzerland's excellent cycling routes.

From Menzingen to Sarnen.: The day Bruno had to see the doctor.

From Sarnen to Wuennewil (about 20 k south of Bern): Great ride through beautiful countryside and a wonderful welcome by a lovely Swiss family..

From Wuennewil to Olten on another beautiful day.

From Olten, Switzerland through a piece of France and to Bad Krozingen, Germany

From Bad Krozingen to Bad Krozingen.: Where grandpa cycles a loop through a small piece of the beautiful but cold Black Forest.
