Ciska 50 years, Michael 50 years, Jesse 15 years and Sammy 13 years.

We are from Australia with Dutch background.

Michael and I have been travelling together since we were 19 years old.

Our backpacking journeys took us to different parts of the world but in 1989

we "discovered" the joy of cycling.

We cycled a total of 30,000 km, covering:

* 2/3 of the Australian Continent(that trip ended after Ciska got hit by a car

in the Australian Outback).

* South East Asia 1993/94 Bali, Java, Sumatra, Singapore, Malaysia and

Thailand.

* South America in 1995 Northern Argentina, Uruguay, Paraquay. Bolivia and

Peru.

After almost a year of cycling this fascinating continent Ciska fell pregnant with

our first son Jesse in Brasil.

We still made it to South Africa but morning sickness made us return to

Australia.

Jesse was born in 1996. We travelled with him for a period of 6 months in a VW

campervan crossing Australia from East to the West.

In 1998 Sammy was born in Bunbury Western Australia.

Late 1999 we took off again ,this time with 2 boys for a period of 1.5

years exploring more of Australia. A time now so precious to us!

We eventually settled on the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queenland for a

period of 2.5 years but soon came to realize that we prefer "A life on the

road"!!

Since 2002 we have toured around Australia in a motor-home and home-schooled the

boys at the same time.

We managed to support ourselves by working 5 months of the year,the other 7

months were spend camping "bush" around the continent.

In between we made short 3 and 6 months backpacking trips to South/East Asia

and Holland.

This year we decided that as a Family we would to continue our trip on 2

tandems from Los Angeles to South America.

So we got ourselves organised and left Australia in the beginning of May 2008.

We spent 4 beautiful months in the South/East Asia region.

Now, thirteen years later we are back on bicycles and "WOW" this time as a Family.

Our adventures on 2 tandems have taken us through Central and South America: Southern California, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Ecuador, Southern Brasil, Northern Argentina, Paraguay, and Bolivia

In March 2011 we left the Latin region and flew to Europe, we pedaled through the Peloponessos/Greece, Italy, Austria, Germany, Luxemburg, Belgium and The Netherlands.

Since October 2011 we are in South East Asia, we are currently cycling in Thailand.

We plan to pedal the route to Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia.

We feel very lucky and privileged to be able to share this amazing journey

together with our beautiful boys Jesse and Sammy
