I'm coming down the east side of Washington Pass on a two day trip from Bellingham to Winthrop, May 2010.

I'm that crazyguyona'unicycle'. I do long distance endurance unicycle rides, hill climbs, and a little muni (mountain unicycling). You may have seen me if you have been in the Bellingham, WA area. I ride a 36 inch Schlumpf geared Kris Holm unicycle when doing road trips. There is no coasting. It has a two speed Schlumph hub. http://www.schlumpf.ch/uni_engl.htm It is either 1:1 direct drive or 1:1.5 overdrive. Geared unicycles are some times refered to as a 'guni'. Next thing I added to it was a brake. When moving along at twenty miles an hour or faster on a unicycle, a break might provide an illusion of increased control. It's not real effective at stopping but helps controlling speed on down grades.

Unicycles use to be simple. Now things are starting to get complicated. Oh well, sign of the times.

Some of my rides have been:

2009

Chilly Hilly ... Hope to Manning Park, BC ... Newhalem to Winthrop, WA ... Glacier, WA to Mount Baker upper lodge ... Cougar Mountain Hill Climb climb4cancer.net (18:43 finish time) ..... (Jim Caple did a favorable write up on ESPN page 2) ....... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=caple/090804 ... Bellingham to Conway, WA via Chuckanut, Edison, La Conner ... Seattle To Portland (STP) 2 day finisher ... Ride 542 - Mount Baker Hill Climb

2010

Chilly Hilly ... Bellingham to Bay View and back ... Bellingham to Winthrop, WA (two days) ... Bellingham to Mt Baker upper lodge and back ...Bellingham Bay to Artist Point ...Stevens Pass west bound ...White Pass east bound ...Chinook Pass east bound ...STP under 24 hours ... Ride 542 - Mount Baker Hill

Rides I'm hoping to make this year: ...White Rock, B.C. to Crescent City, Calif. ...Mount Diablo Challenge hill climb

Not many tours. Only one in Nova Scotia (ridethelobster.com) which was more of a racing tour. On the last day in Nova Scotia I fractured my tibia plateau in a nasty fall.

A couple of personal bests: 60 miles non-stop on a unicycle (2009) 156 miles in one day on unicycles (2009) Cougar Mountain Hill Climb climb4cancer.net non-stop 18:42 (2009) 204 miles in under 24 hour (2010 STP "One Day Finisher")
