Bio: Joyce and Ernie Frey and Phil Wheeler are all currently retired and live in Jacksonville, FL. Our epic adventure started late in 2003 after Phil was diagnosed with leukemia and decided to retire. He mentioned during one of our weekend rides that he always wanted to do a cross country ride. Joyce and Ernie had talked about doing something like this, but didn't think we could get it done. Realizing that all of our biological clocks were ticking, we decided to start planning the trip for spring 2004. And, here we are, planning to ride the Adventure Cycling Southern Tier Route, hence the name BRASS (Bike Ride Across Southern States).

Our plan was for the 3 of us to ride standard road bikes with driver support. Near to last minute, we lost our driver. The plan now is for one of us to drive the support vehicle half of each day. We will be collecting donations for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as we ride.
